Professor Carol Tan was Head of the School of Law at SOAS University of London from 2016 until the end of 2019 when she became Emeritus Professor. As a Head, she was also a member of the Executive Board of SOAS. In addition she was one of two academic Heads appointed to attend Board of Trustees meetings.
