
Professor Dr Belén Olmos Giupponi
Professor Dr Belén Olmos Giupponi is a leading scholar in international law, environmental law, and sustainability governance, with an established track record of academic leadership and interdisciplinary research. She is currently Professor of Law and Head of Law and Social Sciences at Middlesex University London and has previously held senior leadership positions, including Head of the Law School at the University of Portsmouth and Head of Law at Kingston University London. She held visiting positions at Stanford Law School, Brown University and the University of Cambridge.
Professor Olmos Giupponi has extensive experience in research leadership and assessment, having played a key role in multiple REF exercises, including as Unit of Assessment coordinator. She has also served as an external evaluator of research systems in several countries, including Belgium, Spain, and South Africa. Her international profile is further evidenced by her involvement with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the European Society of International Law, and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.
In addition to her research excellence, she is recognised for her transformational leadership in higher education, driving organisational change, fostering inclusive research cultures, and developing interdisciplinary collaborations.
