Professor Richard W Whitecross, is Head of Law at Edinburgh Napier University. He holds degrees in History, Law, and Social Anthropology and worked as a lawyer in Edinburgh and London. He gained his PhD in 2002 in legal anthropology from the University of Edinburgh. He held various ESRC postdoctoral positions at the University of Edinburgh before joining the Scottish Government in 2007 as a senior researcher in Justice Analytical Services. Richard focused on civil justice reform, particularly around the Gill review of civil process before returning to academic life in 2012. Richard is currently the convenor of the Committee of the Heads of Scottish Law Schools and the Law Society Board of Examiners. He sits on the Joint Standing Committee for Legal Education in Scotland.
